Mohammad Nizam obtained his PhD from Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), India in 2020. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Santa Cruz Institute for Particle Physics (SCIPP), University of California Santa Cruz (UCSC) and now working at the Department of Physics, Xiamen University Malaysia as an assistant professor. His research focuses on neutrino oscillations, detector development for high energy physics experiments and medical imaging.


  • Particle physics: Neutrino mass hierarchy; Absolute neutrino mass measurement; Matter effects in neutrino oscillations; CP violation in neutrino oscillations; Neutrinoless double beta decay; Dark matter searches.
  • Instrumentation and simulation: Low Gain Avalanche Diodes (LGADs); Diomond based sensors; Resistive Plate Chambers (RPCs); Time Projection Chambers (TPCs); Accelerator beam diagnostics; DAQ systems; Medical imaging; Hadron therapy; Muon tomography.
