Physics is a fundamental field of knowledge that intersects with other sciences and engineering. It is often the case that research and studies in physics often leads to new ideas and technologies in these other fields. As such the goal of the department’s graduate programme is to produce competent graduates with the knowledge and skills in physics beyond the undergraduate level, which enables Malaysia to interface with the global physics community at large. By participating in a doctoral degree by research with academic staff of diverse fields, graduates will learn and develop the skills to be capable in fundamental research or in various applied and engineering sciences.
