Physics is a fundamental field of knowledge that intersects with other sciences and engineering. It is often the case that research and studies in physics often leads to new ideas and technologies in these other fields. As such the goal of the department’s graduate programme is to produce competent graduates with the knowledge and skills in physics beyond the undergraduate level, which enables Malaysia to interface with the global physics community at large. By participating in a doctoral degree by research with academic staff of diverse fields, graduates will learn and develop the skills to be capable in fundamental research or in various applied and engineering sciences.

MSc in Physics (KPT/JPS [N/0533/7/0001] 06/30 [MQA/PA16346])
Programme mode: by research
Duration: Full time – minimum 2 years, maximum 4 years
                 Part time – minimum 3 years, maximum 5 years
Entry requirements: 
i. A bachelor degree in Sciences and/or Engineering with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 or equivalent; or
ii. A bachelor’s degree in Sciences and/or Engineering with a minimum CGPA of 2.50, and not meeting 2.75 shall be accepted subject to assessment; or
iii. A bachelor’s degree in Sciences and/or Engineering with a CGPA less than 2.50, but having a minimum of 5 years working experience in the relevant field can be considered; or
iv. Candidates who may not meet criteria i-iii but have shown potential and aptitude in physics, for instance, having published in notable journals or have contributed significantly in projects in a relevant field.

                 Part time – minimum 5 years, maximum 10 years
